Privacy Policy

Public legislation. Personal choices. This notice explains the information involved when you browse Policy Eagle, create an account, and follow bills.

01Who operates Policy Eagle

Together, Not For operates Policy Eagle, a service for exploring legislation and following legislative activity. This notice distinguishes information about people using the service from the public legislative records displayed on it.

02Information involved in the service

When you create an account, Clerk handles authentication and may receive your email address or phone number, account credentials, verification information, and details supplied by a connected sign-in provider. Policy Eagle stores your Clerk account identifier, primary email address and verification status, account plan, and account timestamps. We do not store your password in Policy Eagle's application database.

Your tracked bills, notification preferences, email frequency, unsubscribe status, and in-app and email notification records are associated with your account. Notification records can include delivery status and error information. Tracking a bill does not necessarily indicate support, opposition, or a political belief.

The service and its hosting and authentication providers process technical request information needed to deliver and secure the website. Browser storage is also used for sign-in and interface preferences, including theme and sidebar choices. Contacting us supplies the information included in your request.

03How information is used

Account information is used to sign you in, manage access and plan limits, remember the bills you track, and deliver the notifications you request. We also use information to troubleshoot problems, protect the service, respond to requests, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Legal acceptance records identify the document versions you reviewed, the time and method of acceptance, and the wording revision shown. Acceptance of account terms is separate from a choice to receive optional email updates.

04Providers and disclosures

The current service uses Clerk for authentication, Neon/PostgreSQL for application storage, Vercel for hosting, and Resend for email delivery. These providers process information needed for their roles. Their processing can include operational logs and security information in addition to the application records described here.

Information may also need to be disclosed in response to a valid legal requirement or to address fraud, abuse, or threats to the service or others. Public legislative data and your private account activity are different: a public bill does not make your personal tracking list a public record.

05Your account and email choices

You can browse public bill and legislator pages without an account. Bill email updates are optional and separate from account creation. New accounts start with bill emails off; you can request emails in Account or for individual tracked bills. An unsubscribe link in digest emails stops further digest eligibility for that account. An email already being delivered may still arrive.

The privacy center provides an authenticated export of application account data and a deletion request. It remains available without accepting revised terms. Exported application data does not include all information held independently by authentication, hosting, or email providers.

06Retention and account closure

Account and tracking records are used while your account is active. A deletion request stops new account activity and email eligibility, removes the application's profile, subscriptions, notification records, and acceptance records, and requests deletion of the Clerk account. A failed provider request is queued for retry rather than treated as completed.

A restricted deletion record retains the account identifier, request and completion times, and processing status so failed work can be retried and old events cannot recreate the account. Editorial attribution identifiers, where present, are replaced rather than deleting public editorial work. Provider logs, previously delivered messages, and backups are not all erased by deleting application records; provider retention and any lawful exceptions require separate handling.

07Public legislative and lobbying records

Legislation, votes, sponsorship, and any lobbying or committee-appearance records come from public sources. They can contain information about people who never created a Policy Eagle account. Closing an account does not remove an underlying government record. Requests to correct or review public-source information need a separate source and applicable-rights assessment.

08Location and applicable rights

Policy Eagle covers U.S. legislation but is not limited to U.S. users. Providers may process information outside your location. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of information, and to complain to a relevant authority. Identity verification may be needed to protect another person's information. Mandatory rights are not waived by account terms.

09Security and changes

No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Do not share your sign-in credentials. Material changes to this notice will be identified with an updated version and appropriate notice; a privacy notice is not blanket consent to every possible use of information.

Account age

Accounts are intended for people aged 18 or older. Contact us about suspected underage collection; an age statement does not waive applicable protections.
